2019-2020 Start-up Information

Posted on 2019-08-21 07:00:00 +0000 UTC

Welcome back, and welcome to those joining us this year.  While we are preparing for the upcoming year, I thought I would send a brief update and some reminders about the first week.  Students will receive a detailed newsletter during the first week that should answer most questions.

 Registration

  • The office will be open for registration on Monday August 26, Tuesday August 27, Wednesday August 28 from 8 am to 2 pm.
  • If you can’t make these dates, but will be registering your child at North Shuswap, please call and leave a message and we’ll get back to you. It does help our class planning if we know prior to the first day when possible.
  • If you are leaving North Shuswap and haven’t let us know already, we wish your family all the best in the coming year and request that you please leave a message here at the school indicating your move. Please make sure you contact your new school next week about registering there.

First Week Schedule

  • Tuesday September 3rd: students in grades 1-8 attend from 8am until 10:55am. This is an early dismissal day.
  • Wednesday September 4th to Friday September 6th: students in grades 1-8 attend full days. Dismissal is at 1:55pm daily.
  • Students in Division 1 will be starting school at 7:50am to accommodate the extra curriculum time required for Grade 8 students (more information will be provided to students/families in that class when class lists are finalized)

Kindergarten

  • The first day for our Kindergarten students will be Wednesday, Sept 4th beginning at 8am. Students will only attend for 1 hour with parents as part of our gradual entry.  While students are meeting with their teacher and becoming familiar with the classroom and school, we ask that parents fill out the CHEQ Survey (Childhood Experiences Questionnaire).  This survey helps our teachers and school provide and improve targeted supports for children and families.  Parents can use our computer lab to complete the survey while they are here.
  • Thursday September 5th and Friday September 6th, Kindergarten students will attend for the morning only from 8am until 11:12am as part of our gradual entry. Parents will need to make arrangements to pick up their child as buses will not be available for their dismissal time.
  • Monday September 9th Kindergarten students begin full days of classes.

Please feel free to contact us at the office if you have any questions (250) 955-2214.
